Street Kids International’s three-year partnership with ECCO has positively impacted the lives of street and marginalized youth in Kenya and Poland.
Thanks to funds raised through initiatives like the ECCO Walkathons, young people are able to build on their own talents and knowledge to support themselves and their families.

Street Kids International’s strong and valued partnership with ECCO has funded our projects in Kenya and Poland and played a vital role in helping marginalized youth gain entrepreneurship and employability skills.
Since 2006, Street Kids has been supported through ECCO’s Walk For Life campaign. ECCO donates about €1 euro to charity for each kilometre participants walk, in the series of walkathons that occur each summer throughout Europe.
For information on getting involved in the 2009 Walkathons in Denmark, Germany and Poland, please visit the ECCO Walk For Life website.
Street Kids International is striving to help marginalized youth in Poland by developing the abilities and commitment of youth organizations to address their needs.
This involves a business education program adapted particularly for youth in Poland, which develops the skills and attitudes needed for employability and entrepreneurship.
A scholarship is also being made available to youth who have completed the training to be used for apprenticeships, business start up costs or additional professional development courses.
In Kenya, youth and youth workers in the slums of Nairobi are benefiting from Street Kids’ Street Business and Street Banking programs.
To date, more than 500 youth have been trained in financial literacy, and more than 100 youth businesses started as a result. Youth are also benefiting from associated mentorship training and loan programs that help with business start-up.
Youth have started ventures ranging from hairdressing to small road side restaurants, resulting in dramatic changes to their lives. Many are able to move off the street into shared or subsidized housing, support daily living costs for themselves and their families, and start saving for their futures.
