In April of 2010 Street Kids began the monumental task of selecting 8 candidates from over 180 applications for the International Youth Internship Program (IYIP). After many hours of resumé screening and interviews we came up with a team of highly qualified, enthusiastic interns ready to embark on a 10 month placement.
Street Kids International will be recruiting for a second round of internships in early 2011, updated details will be available on this page at that time. IYIP is financially supported by the Government of Canada through the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA). All interns should have language skills relevant to the posting location, or language acquisition skills. Interns must also demonstrate the ability to adapt to new cultures and climates, experience living or working overseas, and be able to prove skills related to adaptability, enterprise, leadership and patience. Interns will be expected to “hit the ground running” and be able to perform at a high level with minimal supervision.
Experience and skills in facilitation and research, knowledge of gender and international development issues, understanding of monitoring and evaluation and experience with youth are also required. Interns will be responsible for various public engagement activities, relating their experiences to the Canadian public through social media, presentations and forums.

Kenya
youth entreprenership support officer
The intern will work with Make a Better World Kenya (MABWOK) to strengthen their youth entrepreneurship programming and develop a fuller understanding of international development in the context of youth livelihood and entrepreneurship.
MABWOK reaches an average of 350 youth annually through training and support for youth savings groups. MABWOK works with the Kenyan government through the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports where they have secured a loan to support vocational training.

Bolivia
youth entrepreneurship support officer
This internship will strengthen the Bolivian institutions team (CDEA) through the exchange of knowledge and experience pertaining to youth development, and will further Street Kids International's programming of accompanied livelihood training.
This training will pay particular attention to the ongoing development of an ‘accompaniment’ aspect to youth program delivery, and further develop Street Kids’ ability to work with teachers and educators to respond to the needs of marginalized youth.
This project will focus on the use and enhancement of innovative educational tools to improve the quality of life and social conditions of marginalized youth and foster self-sustainability.
CDEA operates out of La Paz and seeks to develop initiatives, actions, and strategies oriented to improve the quality of life and strengthen the potential of populations in social disadvantage. CDEA has directed its efforts to promoting diversity, equality, universal human rights and human values through the development and implementation of innovative, educational training programs for both formal and non-formal streams. Fluency in Spanish is a requirement for this position.

Youth training coordinator
This internship will strengthen the Emmanuel Development Association’s (EDA) capacity by providing support to entrepreneurship training modules and development of a peer mentorship training manual.
The intern will also be responsible for monitoring and evaluation of the training and gender analysis. EDA envisions a country where children have the opportunity to develop their capabilities so that they can participate equally in the development of their communities, regions and country irrespective of ethnic group, social class or gender.

This internship will strengthen SathSath’s team through the exchange of knowledge and experience pertaining to youth development, and will further Street Kids International's programming of financial sustainability and livelihood training for Nepali youth.
Training and support will pay particular attention to the ongoing development of a ‘practice business’ aspect to youth program delivery, and further develop Street Kids’ ability to work with teachers and educators to respond to the needs of marginalized youth.
SathSath assists children and youth to develop skills, build confidence and learn how to use their rights in society. SathSath operates three drop-in-centers in Kathmandu, these centers offer a safe environment for children and youth to learn, play and receive support and services to improve their quality of life.

Youth ENTREPRENEURSHIP OFFICER
The intern will be a member of the children’s program staff group at Mkombozi, providing technical assistance and capacity building to the staff and children’s program coordinator in developing and implementing methodologies and processes for delivering youth livelihood interventions.
The intern will facilitate youth’s participation in program processes and interventions meant to improve their livelihood. The intern will advise on reviews of systems and their compatible implementation in addition to facilitating the development of tools and techniques to enable staff members to achieve quality interventions in youth livelihood and gender inclusive programming. Street Youth Job Readiness Coordinator
This internship will strengthen the Project Concern International India (PCI/India) team by facilitating a process whereby there is overall development of youth beneficiaries including vocational and life skills and enhancement of street youth programs.
The Street Source training will develop youth workers ability to respond to the needs of marginalized youth. This project will focus on the use and enhancement of life skills educational tools to improve the quality of life and social conditions of marginalized youth and foster self-sustainability in PCI’s programs.
PCI/India has been active since 1997 and is an affiliate of Project Concern International. The India country office is located in New Delhi and has five regional offices around the country. PCI/India has developed a diverse portfolio of programs in the areas of HIV/AIDS prevention, care and support; polio eradication; water and sanitation; micro-enterprise and micro finance; humanitarian assistance and children at risk.

Street Youth Job Readiness Coordinator
The intern’s development of the English Proficiency Curriculum and the Street Source Curriculum in partnership with Street Kids International and Virlanie Foundation, Inc. will contribute to the self sufficiency and independent living for the youth that Virlanie works with. Virlanie offers a number of community outreach programs that provide social support and education to the children and families of Manila's poorest neighbourhoods. The Virlanie Foundation, Inc. (VFI) is a private non-sectarian child caring institution in Metro Manila, Philippines. The foundation serves children found living in the streets as well as those referred by other institutions. Virlanie works to prevent the future physical and psychological abuse of children. It envisions empowered children who see a brighter future for themselves.

POST-conflict youth entreprenership monitoring and evaluation officer
The intern will work with Hands Empowering The Less Privileged (HELP) Salone to strengthen their youth entrepreneurship programming and assist in monitoring and evaluation of youth entrepreneurship activities. HELP Salone in Sierra Leone is a local non-profit working with marginalised youth, women and children in the most deprived and underserved communities in Sierra Leone. HELP has a wealth of experience in implementing diverse development programs in Sierra Leone in areas such as water and sanitation, skills training income generation for women, micro-finance, youth support and food security.
